Hello everyone, and welcome to MusIQ, where each week we learn how to read music and play cool songs on the keyboard! Every week is a new adventure whether we are playing ‘high bird’ notes and ‘low whale’ notes with Mr.Beethoven, listening to jazz with Mr.Joplin, going over the musical alphabet with Mr.Bach, practicing your rhythms with Miss.Melody, playing games, or jamming to your own beats in the ‘improv’ room! There’s always lot’s to do and learn. Come to think of it, do you guys remember what we learnt this week?
Taylor, Drew, Maryfur and Heidi: One would never guess that you guys are new to musIQ, you all were cruising along in your lessons with Mr.Beethoven; so far you guys have learnt about a very important key and letter in the musical alphabet: middle c; and as its name indicates it is right smack in the middle of keyboard! The notes above middle c are played with your right hand, and called high bird notes; while the notes below middle c are played with your left hand and are called low whale notes.
Jonathan Gabby and Liam: You completed lessons 14 and 15 with Mr.Joplin and were working on the “hot cross buns” song. Just remember to always have your 1st fingers (thumbs) always placed on middle c and the rest of the notes will be very easy to play! Great job!
Djef and Megan: You are both doing very well with Miss. Mendelssohn, the grand staff and all it’s components such as the treble and bass clefs! A helpful saying to remember the treble clef staff space notes: FACE. For the line notes: Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge. For the bass clef staff space notes: All Cows Eat Grass. Line notes: Glad Bags Don’t Fall Apart. These sayings may sound silly but that will help you remember the names of the notes on the staffs that much better!!
Thanks for a great week see you all next Thursday
