Hello everyone, hope you are all enjoying the sunny weather!
You all did very well in musIQ class today. I noticed a lot of you are enjoying the improvisation room where you can record and save your own compositions. Did you know that you can get these from the library. Also in the library you can review parts of lessons and even get new songs to play and practice..This leads me to my next point… I want you all to come up with a song that you would like to play during the last class …next Thursday each of you can pick one that you have been learning with Miss.Melody and on the last class we will have a mini concert/recital where you all can perform solo or duet pieces.
So on to a recap of today’s session: I noticed that Camryn and Emma were playing along with the woodpecker timer…the fancy name for this ‘woodpecker’ is an instrument called a metronome which musicians use to keep in time at a certain rate or tempo. This is very important because the metronome helps us keep a consistent rhythm and pace throughout our musical pieces.
*For this week’s homework I would like Julia, Owen, and Ciara to complete this worksheet which is a little review of the keyboard note names.
*Maya, click here for the ‘Spelling by Letter Name’ work sheet. It is a bit like a puzzle …decode the keys marked on the keyboard to spell a word!
*Brooke, Morgan, Camryn and Emma: click here for ‘The Staff’ worksheet. You guys are familiar with the treble clef and bass clef which are a part of our full grand staff. The treble clef is written for the notes above middle c while the bass clef is for the notes below middle c. There are 2 ways to write middle c…one for the treble clef and one for the bass clef; complete the worksheet and for bonus draw in your treble and bass clefs!
Complete these sheets and try to remember to bring them in for next class! Thanks a lot and see you all next Thursday!
